Week 10 Day 2

Today we are:

Talking more about the show.

Talking about making materials for the show.

Talking as needed about people’s projects.

For next time:

Bring in at least two initial treatments for Orbit.

Bring in work from Professional Practice to go over with Tom Varisco.

Show Materials

For our exhibition, we’ll produce a number of materials, including poster, wall graphics, postcard, catalog, and more.

We’re going to start this process by coming up with a mark to represent this show. This doesn’t need to be a logo in the traditional sense. It needs to use the word Orbit and represent our show/class graphically.

Consider the kinds of places this will get used – wall vinyl, postcard, poster, catalog – and think about how it will get used on those. In the past, this has largely been the “image” on the front of the poster or catalog, so it may not need to be as succinct as we normally think of branding or a logo.

Week 8 Day 1

Today, we are:

Being excited to be back from Mardi Gras break!

Checking in with everyone.

Talking individually about progress.

For next time:

Keep working.

Start thinking about exhibition design, including:

  • How you want to present your work
  • The pieces we collectively need to design
  • What good exhibition design looks like

Remember that the Mid-Project Review is next week. So, you need to be working toward having work at a comprehensible place.

In the handout for Mid-Project Review, it says:

Your general idea is solidified. That doesn’t mean nothing can change, but that you’re on a definite path. You should show an awareness of your project’s trajectory and be planning for the final presentation.

You need to show some of the following:

Finished parts

Options, both conceptual and aesthetic

A presentation of your idea as a whole

So, have those things!
